2. Overview

This website and NoteLama are built to collect as little as possible. Devmil Solutions does not run analytics, advertising or tracking. The website sets no cookies and loads nothing from third-party servers; its fonts, images and scripts are served with the page. NoteLama has no account and no NoteLama server. It does not send your notebooks, ink, scans or settings to Devmil Solutions.

3. Hosting

The website is hosted by GitHub Pages (GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). When the site is visited, GitHub processes technical access data to deliver it and keep it secure: IP address, date and time, requested page, referrer, browser and operating system. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a secure and reliable website).

GitHub may process data in the USA. GitHub, Inc. is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision, Art. 45 GDPR). Details: GitHub privacy statement. Devmil Solutions has no access to these logs.

4. Local storage in your browser

The website stores the chosen language under the key preferred-language (value en or de) in your browser's local storage. Older visits may have left the key notelama.language; the site moves its value to preferred-language and removes it. The interactive sketches on the page keep what you draw only in the open page. This data stays on your device, is never transmitted, and can be deleted in your browser at any time. Legal basis: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG (strictly necessary for a service you requested).

5. The NoteLama app

NoteLama is in development. It has no public release yet and is not yet available in the App Store or on Google Play. This section describes the current test builds. It will be updated if the app's behaviour changes before or after release.

Data on your device

NoteLama works offline and needs no account. Your notebooks, ink, scanned pages, photos you add, stickers and settings are stored in the app's storage on your device. NoteLama contains no analytics, advertising, tracking or crash-reporting component and sends no usage data or crash reports to Devmil Solutions. The app writes a technical log on the device for troubleshooting. It contains no notebook content and no credentials, and it is not transmitted. On Android, the app's data is excluded from Android's automatic cloud backup.

Optional synchronisation with your own storage

Synchronisation is off until you choose a storage provider. The app then transfers your notebook data directly between your device and that provider. Devmil Solutions does not receive it. The provider processes the data as your service provider under its own privacy policy.

When synchronisation is set up, the operating system may also let NoteLama synchronise in the background (iOS background tasks, Android WorkManager). You can disconnect the storage provider in the app's settings at any time. Disconnecting keeps your notebooks on the device and does not delete data stored with the provider.

Network connections

Apart from the storage provider you choose, NoteLama makes no internet connections. The app checks on the device whether a network is available, to decide when synchronisation can run. On Android it requests the permissions for internet access and network state for this purpose.

Scanning, camera and photos

Edge detection and page straightening run on your device.

Export, backup and import

You can export a notebook as a PDF or as a NoteLama backup file and import backup files. Export uses the system share sheet or save dialog, and you decide where the file goes. Import uses the system file picker; NoteLama reads only the file you choose.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), erasure (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), data portability (Art. 20 GDPR) and to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Bayerisches Landesamt für Datenschutzaufsicht (BayLDA), Promenade 18, 91522 Ansbach, www.lda.bayern.de.

7. Changes

This policy is updated when the website or the app changes. The current version is always available on this page.
