Privacy Policy for Glasir
Last updated: June 21, 2026
Privacy and Data Collection
Glasir is a local system utility built with your privacy as a top priority. We want to be completely transparent about our data practices:
What data we collect
- No personal data collection: Glasir does not collect or transmit any personal data to external servers.
- Local only: All process, system, and telemetry information is read on demand from your Mac and used only to display it within the app. It is never uploaded or stored remotely.
- No analytics: We do not use any analytics or crash-reporting services to track your usage.
- No advertising: The app contains no advertising or third-party tracking frameworks.
- No accounts: Using Glasir does not require an account, sign-in, or any online service.
Software updates
Glasir does not currently include automatic in-app updates. When a new build is available, download the newer DMG from this site's releases page and replace your existing copy.
If in-app updates are added in the future, this section will describe what is checked and how to control it.
What the app accesses on your device
To show you an accurate view of what is running on your Mac, Glasir reads information directly from the operating system:
- Process and system telemetry: Process names, identifiers (PID/PPID), CPU and memory usage, and process hierarchy, obtained through system APIs and an optional Rust process sampler.
- Handles and connections: Inspector tabs surface open file descriptors, network connections, and threads where the underlying capability is available. Where a field is not yet supported, the inspector shows an explicit pending state rather than a silent gap.
- Code-signing and security metadata: Code-signing status, Team IDs, entitlements, sandbox and hardened-runtime state, and binary architecture, where the platform exposes them.
All of this information is processed in memory on your device to render the interface and is discarded when no longer needed.
Snapshots
Glasir can save a process-tree snapshot as a JSON document to a location you choose. The snapshot is written locally and only leaves your machine if you move or share the file yourself.
Privileged access
Reading detailed information about processes owned by other users may require elevated access. Where applicable, the app uses standard macOS authorization prompts. No data collected this way leaves your device.
Runtime and dependencies
Glasir is a Kotlin Multiplatform application that runs on the Java Virtual Machine, packaged with a bundled runtime. A Rust process sampler may be bundled alongside it to handle native telemetry. Neither component transmits data off your device.
