Screenshots for macOS, Windows and Linux
Capture a moment.
Make your point.
ShotLama waits in your menu bar or tray. Press a shortcut, select what you want to show, and the capture lands in a small card, ready to copy, save, drag into another app or annotate.
- In development
- macOS first, then Windows and Linux
- No account, no cloud
01 / How it works
From shortcut to someone else’s screen.
Most captures need a few seconds of work. ShotLama keeps each step close to the one before.
-
01
Capture
Press a shortcut and the screen holds still. Select an area, a window or a whole display, with a loupe, snapping and exact sizes.
-
02
Quick Access
The capture lands in a card in the corner of your screen. Copy it, save it, drag it into another app, pin it, or swipe it away.
-
03
Annotate
Open the editor for arrows, text, counters and concealment. Put the result on a background and share a capture that explains itself.
02 / Annotate
Point at what matters.
Arrows, shapes, text, counters, a highlighter, spotlight and concealment. Every mark stays editable, even when you reopen the capture from History weeks later.
A model, not the app. The dashboard is made up. Toggle the tools, change the colour and pick a background.
03 / Features
What it does.
The first release covers still captures from shortcut to shared file. Screen recording follows after it.
Area, window and display
The screen holds still while you select. A loupe, edge snapping and exact sizes help you get the pixels you mean. Window captures can sit on your wallpaper.
Quick Access
Every capture waits in a card. Copy, save, drag into any app, pin or annotate with one gesture. The card never takes the focus away from what you are doing.
Annotate
Tapered arrows, shapes, text in three faces, counters, a highlighter and spotlight. Undo and redo go back as far as you need.
Backgrounds
Place a capture on a gradient, a colour, your wallpaper or colours taken from the capture itself, with padding, corners and a shadow.
Pin
Keep a capture floating above your work while you type or compare. Zoom it, fade it, or let clicks pass through to the window below.
Capture Text
Select an area and copy the text in it. Recognition runs on your computer with the engine your system provides.
History
Earlier captures stay at hand. Reopen one and every arrow and label is still editable. You choose how long History keeps them.
Keyboard all the way
Go from shortcut to clipboard without touching the pointer. Every shortcut can be changed, and conflicts are shown before they bite.
Recording Later
Video and GIF with audio, clicks and keystrokes, a trim editor, and later scrolling capture. Planned after the first release.
04 / Privacy
Your captures stay on your computer.
Screens show private things. ShotLama is built so that what you capture goes only where you send it.
- No account and no cloud. Captures and History live on your disk.
- Concealment is flattened into every copy and file. A blurred address cannot be restored from the output.
- Saved images carry no metadata: no location, no device name, no timestamps.
- The only network access is an update check, and only when you allow it.
05 / Platforms
One tool on three desktops.
Each system works a little differently. Where a desktop has its own picker or permission, ShotLama uses it and explains it once.
macOS
macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel. The first platform to be finished and released.
Windows
Windows 10 version 2004 or later and Windows 11, 64-bit. Follows after macOS.
Linux
x86_64 on X11, KDE Plasma 6, GNOME 46 or later and wlroots compositors. On Wayland, the desktop’s screen-sharing portal takes part in each capture.
